Education and the NII, Competing Visions
This site under construction
This site is being developed as a collaborative project for
TU5020, Computer Mediated Communication.
The Project
This site is an collaborative hypertextual essay designed to point out some of the key issues
and proposals affecting the future of education in a world connected by an "information
superhighway". There are many different points of view on how this vast computer network should be constructed, how it will work, who should pay for it, and what it should be able to do. These differing opinions have profound implications for education. This site is an attempt to provide an overview of some of them.
Each of the project five group members has chosen to represent the point of view of a different constituency with a stake in the development of our National Information Infrastructure. In addition to being divided into different viewpoints, the material in this site is also broken down into opinions on five specific issues.
Please browse about the site in any order you wish using the menu bars below or the links on each of the pages. You may jump directly to any of the five viewpoints on any of the five issues or read a brief introduction on each of the viewpoints directly from this home page. Each individual page also provides links to allow for several navigational paths
