CampInteractive is a non-profit organization working in
collaboration with Outward Bound to bring a unique combination
of a wilderness adventure experience and a classroom technology
program to young people in the underserved neighborhoods of
New York City.
Our organization runs a summer program for students from
the South Bronx and surrounding areas. In this, our first
summer of operation, students took digital cameras and other
creative outlets on a camping and canoeing trip where they
were in the hands of the New York City Outward Bound Center
instructors for two weeks in the Adirondacks. After they returned
from that trip, they spent two weeks building a series of
web sites that gave them the opportunity to reflect on the
unusual experience they just returned from. Through the school
year we continue to be a source of support in our student's
lives working through the many community organizations through
which our student's were recruited.
CampInteractive is looking for one intern interested in education,
technology, and community development. The job would include
a series of activities throughout the organization including
anything and everything from program development and documentation,
long-term planning and strategy, and outreach to community
organizations and students throughout the South Bronx and
surrounding areas.
