Position Title: Program Assistant - Instructional Design
Position Type: Graduate Assistant
Hours: 20 Hours Per Week
Grade: N/A
Salary: $1500 per month plus 3 points of tuition
Job Description:
The Instructional Design Specialist will use content development
and design skills to enhance or develop online distance learning
classes and projects.
Responsibilities:
- Help respond to online and hybrid course professors' inquiries
- Work with faculty to design online learning modules that
meet the
needs and with attention to adult learning theory,
cognition process
and sound instructional design models.
- Outline projects' timelines, milestones, and needed resources.
- Help develop workshops that promote effective teaching with
technology in traditional and online courses,
including new
technologies, course design, pedagogy, and teaching
issues.
Qualifications:
- Experience and knowledge in instructional design, educational
technology, distance education, adult learning,
or related fields
- Knowledge and experience with Internet and multimedia
technologies
- Knowledge of adult learning theories and of best practices
- Ability to research and present academic information
- Familiarity with Blackboard or knowledge of the standard
courseware features (e.g. uploading and downloading
files, using
discussion groups and chat rooms)
- Dependable and flexible (this may mean occasionally working
some
hours in the evening or on weekends)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Adult teaching or training experience preferred
