Galatea
The story of Galatea fleeing her pursuer comes from Virgil's Bucolic poems. Bound as women are by modesty and public opinion, they can not ask for what they want directly; they can only show their desires in their eyes or in their actions. Standards of honesty are thus different for them and for men.
