Leander
Leander and Hero were lovers described in a 6th century poem by Musaeus. Hero's parents opposed the marriage, and every night Leander had to swim across the Hellespont to meet her in secret, following a light she set on the shore. One night the wind blew out the lamp and Leander drowned.
