Cato
Roman statesman, much admired by Rousseau. Rousseau wrote a political fragment comparing Socrates and Cato sometime between 1751 and 1754 in connection with an unpublished essay on "The Virtue Most Necessary for a Hero." See Plutarch's life of Cato.
