It was a walk in the country, as will soon be seen. Public promenades in the city are pernicious for children of both sexes. It is there that they begin to become vain and to want to be noticed. It is in the Luxembourg, in the Tuilleries, above all at Palais-royal that handsome young people of Paris take on the impertinent and fatuous airs which make them look so ridiculous and bring them such scorn and hatred throughout Europe.
