April Nickell is an MA student in Cognitive Studies with a concentration in Creativity and Cognition and is assisting Saadia Khan with her research in embodied cognition and learning in MUVEs. April also works for the Center for the Professional Education of Teachers as a literacy consultant. After having spent the summer in Mozambique, April is working as a consultant for a digitally based education solution in that country.
Prior to TC, April founded Jaradoa Theater, a professional theater company producing off-Broadway, where she created curriculum using theater strategies to support literacy instruction. Her primary areas of interest are combining embodied cognition, creativity and play research, and arts integration to support student learning and emotional development.
