Shimin Kai

Shimin is a PhD student in Cognitive Studies Program at Teachers College, Columbia University, and holds an M.Ed in International Education Development from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Before coming to Teachers College, she has worked as a middle school teacher and a curriculum designer for science and mathematics. She is interested in executive function development and how it correlates with spatial and verbal reasoning abilities. She is also interested in making use of learner-generated data from technological software to identify and assess non-cognitive skills such as metacognition and persistence.
